My Top 10 Favorite Finance Blogs
Over the last couple of years, I have bookmarked numerous blogs relating to finding a job in investment banking. Here is a list of the top 10 (12) blogs that made my Google Reader:
- Mergers and Inquisitions - M&I is one of the most comprehensive blogs, written by a former investment banking analyst. Brian’s posts have been extremely helpful and relevant at answering my questions about banking culture, interviews, and networking.
- Street of Walls - The posts are detailed and helpful. This site has a very comprehensive archive of articles. Check it out.
- Deal Breaker - This site keeps up with the gossip on Wall Street and can be a funny read.
- Wall Street Oasis - The best forum for monkey’s out there. Of course, not all the information is accurate or credible, but it does serve its purpose.
- Life on the Buyside - This blog is about working and breaking into hedge funds. There are great personal stories on this site, and the author’s writing style makes it easy to understand the main points quickly.
- PE Hub - This site has videos and articles keeping up with relevant PE news. Reading this blog for a week should be plenty to keep brief you on recent events and trends in the private equity industry.
- Life as a Summer Intern - There have been no new posts on this blog. However, the older ones did give a good personal stories on ways he broke into investment banking. Another blog similar is the Investment Banking Monkey.
- Trades and Tombstones - The host of this blog is Investment Banking Job Digest. Both of these sites answer common questions with detailed answers.
- The Epicurean Deal Maker - Warning: The author’s writing style is verbose. However, it is still one of my favorite blogs. Also, this is the only one written by an IB managing director.
- Alphaville (FT), Deal Book (NYT), and Deal Journal (WSJ) - These 3 free blogs give you all the deal news you need as a student. For more information on the newspapers, check out my popular WSJ verses FT post.
Well, time for me to take off for dinner. As always, I hope will these posts will help you break into Wall Street. Leave a comment and let me know your favorites.
